Why is our work so important?
Our attorneys and paralegals provide free civil legal services to help clients find solutions to desperate circumstances. Last year, we helped thousands of individuals and families in northwest Ohio protect their rights in situations involving domestic violence, elder abuse, preservation of housing, health care, education, access to benefits, and the rights of immigrants.
The Justice for All Campaign benefits LAWO, Advocates for Basic Legal Equality, Inc. (ABLE), and the Toledo Bar Association’s Pro Bono Legal Services Program (TBA). As the only organizations that provide free civil legal assistance to people living in poverty in northwest Ohio, the Justice for All Campaign unites our fundraising efforts to ensure that vulnerable and disenfranchised members of our community have equal access to the legal system. Each year Legal Aid of Western Ohio, Advocates for Basic Legal Equality, and the Toledo Bar Association host the Access to Justice Awards Dinner and Ceremony to recognize extraordinary service in the public interest and community advocacy. Individuals and organizations in northwest Ohio are honored for their outstanding contributions to promoting and providing access to justice for underprivileged and underserved people.
